Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to dedicate my time to helping people - helping them feel better, and live better. I have always been curious about the body's complexities and have a passion for unlocking its secrets. When I graduated from University of San Francisco with a BA in Kinesiology, I began to explore my options for a career that aligned with these interests. I considered several avenues of body work including physical therapy, and opportunities in fitness and nutrition, but ultimately I did not find my calling until I stumbled upon Fascial Stretch Therapy™ (FST). A friend, who had recently been certified in FST, offered to help me find relief from my chronic non-specific lower back and neck pain due to scoliosis and injury from a car accident. Much to my surprise, I found full alleviation from pain in just one short month. When I discovered how this therapy approaches the body in a noninvasive and healing way, I was determined to learn the practice and share my experience with as many people as I can. I have always believed in preventative medicine and treating the body before a more serious condition arises. FST not only helps to relieve the body's current concerns but also will prevent future problems! I love being able to work with my clients, creating a specific plan to meet their needs, bring balance and healing into their life. Thanks to the gift of FST I move freely and love helping others do the same!
What is fst?
Fascial Stretch Therapy™ is a pain free full body restorative therapy for people of all ages, and all athletic levels, who are looking to increase mobility and flexibility while decreasing pain held in the body. FST works with the fascia (the tissue connecting all muscle, joints, and organs) and the nervous system through proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF - a technique of resistance or contracting and relaxing before a stretch), traction, and gentle movements that unlock and balance the body.
"When I saw Mariah for a second session I happened to be pregnant. I was currently dealing with leg cramps, back and sciatic pain. She first started by asking questions to better understand my body and needs. Once on the table she explained the stretches she was performing and how they would benefit my specific needs; such as opening up my hips would help to relieve pressure and relieve some of my sciatic pain. After the session I felt great, I was more energized and that night I had amazing sleep with zero pain. If I could afford doing stretch therapy with her daily I would. All in all Mariah is professional, informative and has that healing touch. I would recommend her to anyone. "

"I have known Mariah for about 2 years... Recently, I was in a car crash and I was having a lot of balance issues with my core and, also, my limbs ached. I told her about the accident and she gave me her business card. We've had 3 sessions to date and I have been extremely satisfied with her professionalism, kindness and caring demeanor. Mariah is a true FST professional and I would whole heartedly recommend Mariah to anyone who needs help balancing their core and/or stretching in ways that are most difficult for your average stretcher, like me. I'm very glad with my decision to experience FST with Mariah. Her profession is one that I will continue to need now and into the unforeseeable future!"
